Alaska Yellow Cedar

Cupressus nootkatensis (also called Nootka cedar or yellow cedar)

Overview 

Alaska Yellow Cedar grows along the Pacific coast from southeast Alaska down to southern Oregon, mostly at higher elevations.

It is a fine-grained softwood, pale yellow weathering to silver gray, modest in strength but easy to work, and durable in harsh weather.

Often used for outdoor millwork and joinery, decking, boatbuilding, carving, and specialty work where durability and appearance both matter.
